Michael M. Clawson is a partner at Clawson & Clawson, LLP. He was raised in Colorado Springs and graduated from Doherty High School. He is a second generation Colorado Springs attorney. His father, Millen came to the Colorado Springs and began practicing law in 1968. He was the founding Partner of Clawson, Potter & Gardner, P.C..
Mr. Clawson attended Brigham Young University where he received a B.A. in Political Science. He was a member of the Pre Law Society and the Political Science Honor Society.
Mr. Clawson received his J.D. from the University Of Denver College Of Law. While in law school he clerked for several different law firms including a firm that was in house counsel for a national insurance company. Mr. Clawson was the municipal prosecutor for the City of Thornton, Colorado his last year of law school. As a law student he was responsible for the prosecution of all city ordinance violations.
After graduating from Law School, Mr. Clawson began working as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Aurora, Colorado. He was a City Attorney for over four years. During this time he tried over 50 jury trials and over 100 trials to the court. After leaving the City Attorney's office, Mr. Clawson worked as an Associate, and later a Partner, at Clawson, Potter & Gardner, P.C. During this time he specialized in areas of Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury, Social Security Disability, Bankruptcy and Criminal Defense
In 2003 Mr. Clawson opened a solo practice before joining forces with his father and brother to open the firm of Clawson & Clawson, LLP in 2004. Mr. Clawson's practice emphasis is in the areas of Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury, Social Security Disability and Criminal Defense. He is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Workers' Compensation Education Association, CBA, and El Paso County Bar Association. Mr. Clawson has favorably represented hundreds of clients and help them work through the complicated maze of our legal system.
Outside of law Mr. Clawson has volunteered his service in various youth and church organizations. He is merit badge counselor for several merit badges and has served as a chairman of his local troop committee for the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Clawson is active in sports and has coached basketball teams.
