Can Colorado Springs Rental Houses be the Right Approach for You?

colorado_springs_rental_housesWhen one considers the current state of real estate sales around the country, it’s easy to become disillusioned.  Even though people claim it’s all about “location, location, location,” Pikes Peak area realtors are still getting a lot of requests for information about Colorado Springs rental houses. It’s interesting to note how quickly people went from wanting to own a home to avoiding it altogether. Despite the fact that Colorado Springs is less affected by fluctuations in the real estate market, there are still a number of potential homebuyers sitting on the sidelines in rental homes.

Colorado Springs is known for its 249 days of sunshine, awe-inspiring landscape, and excellent quality of life.  In fact, the region has been singled out by several magazines and web sites as one of the “best places to live in America.” This, plus five military bases and a bustling technology sector, and it’s easy to see why so many people choose to make Colorado Springs their home.  But are Colorado Springs rental houses really the best bet?

Mortgage rates have never been lower, and many of the best homes in Colorado Springs are at available at rock-bottom prices.  If you really want to avoid the real estate market for now, then there is a selection of Colorado Springs rental houses to consider, but do yourself a favor and check out some real estate listings first.

According to an article I read recently on a Colorado real estate blog, “Two Approaches to the Housing Market with Colorado Springs Rental Houses,” now is a great time to purchase rental property.  With so many people in the market for a Colorado Springs rental houses, the rents are going up.  You can pay for the mortgage with the rent you receive and perhaps even keep a small profit for yourself.  Use some of the proceeds to set aside a down payment for your dream home.  The article suggests that once the market settles down you should go out and buy a second home, but I recommend looking at houses now.  Even if you don’t have the down payment, many end-of summer sellers are motivated enough to offer seller-assisted financing.

No matter how you choose to approach the market right now, Colorado Springs rental houses may play an important role in your decision.  Find out more about your options by speaking with a Colorado Springs realtor.
